Road Tax in Maharashtra for Out-of-State Vehicles

For a maximum of 12 months, driving a car from another state is tax-free in Maharashtra.  You must get your car re-registered in Maharashtra and pay the appropriate taxes if you want to keep driving it there for more than 12 months.

How to Pay Maharashtra Road Tax Online?

When you visit your local RTO to register your car, you may pay your Maharashtra Road tax in person or online through the Parivahan website. The procedures listed below must be followed to pay the road tax online.

  1. Go to the website of Parivahan.
  2. Choose the "Vehicles Related Services" option after clicking on "Online Services".
  3. Select your local RTO after selecting the state of Maharashtra from the dropdown menu.
  4. Enter the car's registration number and other necessary details on the next page.
  5. You may pay your road tax online and obtain a copy of the receipt when your information has been validated.

Penalty for Non-payment of Road Tax in Maharashtra

After registering your car with the Maharashtra RTO, you have 30 days to pay the Maharashtra Road tax. First-time offenders face a minimum punishment, which might be raised to the one-time tax due for that particular vehicle category.  Repeat offenders will be required to pay twice as much as the one-time tax due.
