Who Can Buy This Policy?
As a vehicle-owing Indian citizen/resident, you are obligated under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, to purchase a Motor Act Only Insurance Policy. Whether you own a two-wheeler, four-wheeler or commercial vehicle; whether you are a personal or commercial vehicle owner, you must mandatorily invest in a Motor Act Only Insurance Policy if you wish to exercise your right to drive on Indian roads, and to protect yourself from the legal and financial responsibly of compensating third-parties.

What is Covered Under Motor Act Only Insurance Policy

      • This Policy protects against legal liability arising out of the use of the vehicle, towards third parties arising on bodily injury to / on death of a person and any damage caused to third party property.

        For an additional premium, provides the following

      • Personal Accident Cover.
      • Additional Legal Liabilities for Paid driver/conductor/cleaner , employees and non-fare paying passengers.
      • Bifuel kit.
    • Coverage
      This policy is designed to cover the compulsory Third Party Liability as required by Motor Vehicles Act for all types of motor vehicles registered in India.

      This Policy protects against legal liability arising out of the use of the vehicle, towards third parties arising on bodily injury to / on death of a person and any damage caused to third party property

        1. Additional covers at extra cost

      • Personal accident cover: of Rs. 1 lakh in case of two-wheelers and Rs. 2 lakhs for other class of vehicles for individual owner/s* of the vehicle/s while driving. This benefit is however, not available for a Company owned vehicle.
      • Personal accident cover: of Rs. 1 lakh per person, in case of two-wheelers and Rs 2 lakhs per person for other class of vehicles, is also available for the occupant/s of the vehicle/s.

        2. Additional Legal liabilities for:


      • Paid driver/conductor/cleaner employed in operation of vehicle.
      • Employees travelling in/driving the vehicle other than paid driver.
      • Non-fare paying passengers.

        3. Bifuel-Kit


      • Any Legal Liability arising out of the use of CNG-LPG bifuel kit.
      • Own Damage. 
      • Insured Vehicle gets stolen. 
      • Without driving license.
      • Under the influence of drugs/intoxicant.  
      • War and Nuclear Operations.

If you are caught in an accident, third-party insurance covers third-party losses caused by your insured car. This could be injuries to or even the demise of a third-party person, or partial or total damage to a third-party vehicle or property.

Yes, a third-party insurance plan is mandatory as per the Motor Vehicles Act, and all vehicle owners must have third-party insurance (Act only) with them to be able to drive legally in India.

Irrespective of whoever was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, we (SBIG) will cover your losses. But if a driver does not hold a valid driving licence or possess a learning licence, they won't be covered, and your claim can be nullified.

We cover your losses, irrespective of which city or state the incident happens in.
